Enjoy a safe and comfortable trip!

American Stage Tours was founded in 1983, as a charter and tour company. The current owners have operated the company since the late 1990’s. Both owners started as drivers nearly thirty years ago. Under their leadership, AST has grown to include; updated motor coaches, a vintage coach, a more innovative and extensive tour department and has embraced technology driven management practices.

We differ from many bus companies in that we hire only experienced charter and tour drivers. One of our drivers received the California Bus Association’s 2006 “Outstanding Driver of the Year”. In 2009 and 2016 our mechanic received “Outstanding Maintenance Technician of the Year”.  American Stage Tours received “Operator of the Year” in 2015.

American Stage Tours’ size allows for the ability to offer drivers more than many of our competitors. Our drivers are experienced professionals that are not easily replaced. Each full time driver has an assigned coach. Drivers are dispatched a minimum of one week at a time, rather than nightly like many other bus companies. This allows for proper rest and a lifestyle that is more desirable for the average person.

All coaches and full time drivers are required to be certified by the California Highway Patrol for School Pupil Activity Bus runs (S.P.A.B.) All S.P.A.B. drivers are fingerprinted, cleared through the Department of Justice and must have a minimum of 35 hours of training before S.P.A.B. testing and an additional 10 hours training each year.

Currently, the average professional driving experience for an AST driver is over 30 years.

AST meticulously maintains a fleet of newer model 48 and 56 passenger Prevost motor coaches (models H3-41 and H3-45) and a Grech 26 passenger mini coach. These coaches feature all the amenities associated with comfortable coach travel including: restrooms, DVD player with five monitors, “Road Viewer” cameras, PA system with wireless and corded microphones, AM-FM stereo with CD players, climate control, window shades, individual overhead (adjustable) air vents, reclining seats, foot rests, lap tables with cup holders and emergency communications via cell phone.

All passenger coaches also feature XM-satellite radio. A wheel chair lift maybe available upon request. AST sets a high preventive maintenance standard for its coaches – a key element for both customer satisfaction and driver confidence. Maintenance staff attends ongoing training to acquire the information and skills necessary to keep these technologically advanced motor coaches in premium condition. AST operates a fleet of near zero emission clean diesel engines.
